Mobile strategy games worth your patience

Mobile strategy games worth your patience

Strategy on phones gets a bad reputation because so many games bury the thinking under timers and nagging alerts. But there's a quieter kind of strategy game that genuinely rewards planning, and it's worth seeking out.

Ironline Dominion is my current favorite example. It never pings you to return. You expand your empire, deal with the problems expansion creates, and come back whenever you like to a situation shaped by your last decisions.

What I value in these games is consequence. A move should matter an hour later. When every choice has a cost, you start thinking in trade-offs, and that's where strategy stops being busywork and becomes a real puzzle.

Give these games a session or two before judging them. The interfaces often look dense at first, but once the systems click, a good strategy game becomes the one you keep in your head long after you've closed it.
